CSE Small Grant Rubric

Rubric

All grant applications are reviewed individually by a committee of CSE Student Services professional staff and Science and Engineering Student Board student representatives who will make initial recommendations. Final grant decisions, including the implementation of deductions, are made by the Office of the Associate Dean for Undergraduate Programs. Updated: 2/1/2024

Eligible for up to the maximum amount

A group will be eligible for their full request (not to exceed the listed maximum grant amount) if all the criteria below are true. All grant requests are reviewed individually for merit and based on available funds by CSE Student Services.

  • All requests support the University’s mission statement; Sponsored group activities will provide value to the learning environment of the University for undergraduate CSE students.
  • The group submitted a timely grant report from their most recent small grant award.
  • The group participated in the two most recent CSE Student Org Fairs (Fall and Spring semesters).
  • The group was represented at all Science and Engineering Student Board (SESB) general meetings during the previous semester.
  • The group maintains active registration with Student Unions and Activities.

Eligible for a portion of the request

A group will be eligible for a portion of their request using the criteria below

  • Requests that do not contribute value to the learning environment of the University for undergraduate CSE students (as determined by CSE Student Services) will NOT be funded.
  • If the group did not participate in one of the two most recent CSE Student Org Fairs (Fall or Spring semesters), they may be deducted up to 10% of their final award before distribution of funds.
  • If the group was represented at only two Science and Engineering Student Board general meetings during the previous semester, they may be deducted up to 20% of their final award before distribution of funds.
  • The group maintains active registration with Student Unions and Activities.

Ineligible for a CSE Small Grant

A group may be determined ineligible for a CSE Small Grant if ANY of the criteria listed below are true

  • If the group did not submit a timely grant report from their most recent small grant award.
  • The group did not participate in the two most recent CSE Student Org Fairs (Fall and Spring semesters).
  • The group was represented at fewer than two of the previous semester's Science and Engineering Student Board general meetings.
  • The group is not actively registered with Student Unions and Activities.

  • Removed criteria around meeting agendas and itineraries as that is covered in other areas outlining application review.
  • Edited the number of SESB general meetings required to match the number of available meetings per semester.
